Maximizing everyday moments to glorify God

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10 NLT

If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you’ve no doubt heard mention of my family’s continuing struggle for steady income. For whatever reason, the Lord has deemed this a long, difficult season for us.

We continue to ask Him to provide because honestly, only He can at this point. No doors will open, so we wait and do those things we can do.

We have been recipients of extreme generosity in recent months. People we know and people we don’t have stepped into our situation and offered help. For that, I am so grateful and count us blessed. That has been real confirmation that God is with us, and He’s moved for us.

However.

As I begin to look at the next month, with its due dates and payments and needs, it’s easy to feel fearful. And yesterday morning, I was starting to get concerned. Fighting the urge to wallow, I got ready and went to church.

As I sat listening to the message, it was like the words were piercing into my deepest fears. Hearing the pastor say “there are no shortages in God’s economy” brought tears to my eyes because I knew God was speaking directly to me.

As I continued to listen to the message about Jesus’ words, the very powerful command of Luke 11:9-10 was discussed. He assures us that he knows what we need before we do. That if we make it our “way” to come to Him before we do anything else, there will be an answer. It’s a command to help us learn to engage with Him and the Holy Spirit that lives in us.

That hasn’t always been my “way.” Now, I know that it is the most important “way” I have.  He loves us far too much to be limited in his capacity to bless. I don’t know that I can fully grasp the love He has for me, but I’m trying.

I pray to align my heart with His. Not for the blessing, but because it is the only way to truly experience Him.
